Sotheby’s reopens: what you need to know before attending auctions

In the spring, Sotheby’s international auction house was forced to close its doors due to Covid-19. In order to preserve the safety and health of their customers, some projects were implemented online.

Then Sotheby’s announced the summer and autumn auction schedules to its affiliates around the world. You can read more about this on the official website, the new rules are important to consider if you plan to attend upcoming events.

In the near future, pre-registration with a pass will be valid at most branches of the auction house. You should first contact Sotheby’s and enter your details into the membership lists.

Before the start of the auction, all guests will have to pass a temperature control, it will be done quickly and safely with the help of medical personnel.

While mask restrictions continue, make sure you wear a mask indoors. Each branch will provide recommendations for issuing masks to guests. You don’t need to worry if you forgot about it.

Another important point is that the wardrobes are temporarily closed in all auction houses.

You do not have to worry about the safety of visiting auctions – all houses pay special attention to their guests and their health.

Disinfection is regularly carried out in buildings, sanitizers are placed around the perimeter of the interior, the space is setup so that everyone keeps the required distance of 1.5 – 2 meters.

The pandemic has affected the normal way of life, but this is not a cause for unnecessary concern. Most importantly, life is systematically returning to normal and the opening of auction houses confirms this.
